Eclipse Predictor support

Setting up

  1. Connect from the Eclipse Predictor listing in the Ring app; give your email and ZIP code.
  2. On your Eclipse Predictor page, tap "Use my phone's location" while at home for exact times.
  3. For each camera, stand right under it, face the way it looks, hold your phone flat, tap "Start compass", then "Save this direction". On a computer, type the direction in degrees from true north instead.
  4. Turn on Snapshot Capture for each camera in the Ring app; the shortest interval gives the smoothest film.

Common questions

My camera says "out of view". The sun or moon will be outside the picture at the peak, usually above it (Ring cameras point slightly down) or behind the camera. The film still shows the light changing.

Why does a lunar eclipse film look dark? At night cameras switch to infrared, and a small bright moon may not show detail. Lunar films are a record of the night, not a telescope view.

Deleting everything. "Delete my account and data" on your page, or remove the app in the Ring app.
