Eclipse Predictor privacy policy

DRAFT, not yet in effect. Operator: HydroComplete LLC. Last updated: October 5, 2026

What we collect and why

With your explicit consent through Ring's account linking, Eclipse Predictor collects:

How eclipses and camera views are worked out

Eclipse times and the positions of the sun and moon are calculated on our own server with the open-source Astronomy Engine library, from your home's location. The difference between magnetic and true north comes from the World Magnetic Model (WMM-2025), also calculated on our server. Whether the sun or moon is in a camera's picture is geometry from the direction you set; it is an estimate, and trees, eaves or an inaccurate compass reading can change it. Snapshots are not analysed in any way: they are only joined, in order, into a film.

Your account details

Email, location, timezone, camera names and directions, and Ring tokens are kept while your account is connected, to provide the service.

AI and model training

Eclipse Predictor uses no artificial intelligence, machine learning or automated image analysis. Your Ring data is never used to train any model, ours or anyone else's.

How long we keep things

Sharing

We do not sell, rent or share your data. Our only sub-processor is Fly.io, Inc. (US cloud hosting), which stores the service's data. No other third party and no external data service is used: eclipse, sun, moon, magnetic and ZIP-code calculations all run on our own server.

Your rights and deleting your data

Deletion is self-service and immediate. "Delete my account and data" on your Eclipse Predictor page deletes everything for every camera you ever linked: frames, films, settings, location and tokens. Removing Eclipse Predictor in the Ring app does the same automatically. No email is needed. You may also ask what we hold about you at the contact address below.

Human access

No person at HydroComplete LLC views your snapshots or films. They are visible only through your own private link.

Opting out

To stop a camera being recorded, turn it off for Eclipse Predictor in the Ring app, or disconnect. Without a linked camera nothing is captured.

Children

The service is for adults in the United States and is not directed at children under 13.

Changes

If we change what we collect or how we use it, we will update this page with a new date and, where feasible, tell you on your Eclipse Predictor page before the change takes effect.

Security

Data is sent over HTTPS and stored on encrypted cloud volumes. Your page is reached by a private link that works like a key; keep it private.
