Eclipse Predictor terms of use

DRAFT, not yet in effect

1. Agreement and acceptance

These Terms are a binding agreement between you and HydroComplete LLC, a North Carolina limited liability company ("we"), the operator of Eclipse Predictor. By linking your Ring account or using your Eclipse Predictor page you accept these Terms and our Privacy Policy. You must be at least 18.

2. The service

Eclipse Predictor lists the solar and lunar eclipses visible from your home or business, estimates whether the sun or moon will be in each camera's picture from the direction you set, and records a time-lapse film from your cameras' snapshots during those eclipses.

Predictions are calculations, not guarantees. Times come from an astronomical model and your location; weather, terrain, trees and buildings decide what is actually seen. Whether a camera catches the sun or moon depends on its true direction, lens and surroundings. A camera records only if Ring provides snapshots at the time.
Eye safety. Never look at the sun without certified eclipse glasses (ISO 12312-2), except during totality itself. The service never tells you it is safe to look at the sun.

3. Your responsibilities

4. Data practices

Set out in the Privacy Policy, which is part of these Terms and controls if they differ.

5. Intellectual property

The service is owned by HydroComplete LLC. You keep all rights in your recordings and films and grant us only the permission needed to make them and show them to you. "Ring" and "Amazon" are trademarks of their owners; Eclipse Predictor is not affiliated with or endorsed by Ring LLC or Amazon.com, Inc. beyond the Ring developer program.

6. Third-party services

The service depends on Ring and Amazon (camera access) and Fly.io (hosting). We are not responsible for their outages or changes.

7. Disclaimer and limitation of liability

The service is provided "as is" without warranties of any kind. To the fullest extent the law allows, HydroComplete LLC is not liable for indirect or consequential damages, including missed eclipses, travel or viewing decisions, or eye injury. Total liability is limited to the amount you paid in the twelve months before the claim.

8. Ending your use

Delete your account and data at any time from your Eclipse Predictor page, or remove the app in the Ring app; either erases your data immediately. We may suspend access for breach of these Terms or if Ring, Amazon or the law requires it.

9. Changes

Material changes will be posted here with a new date and, where feasible, announced before they take effect.

10. Governing law
